Mikko Hirvonen completed the first two special stages of the Rally Vosges as leader. The Citroën driver is just 1”5 ahead of the Ford Fiesta RS WRC by Mads Ostberg. There Peugeot Éric Mauffrey's 306 Maxi occupies a promising third place, more than a minute behind the leaders. Sébastien Chardonnet occupies fourth position in his DS3 WRC, 14 seconds behind. Cédric Robert is sixth on his Renault Clio one minute behind the C4 WRC of Laurent Viana. Stéphane Consani suffered a crash on his Mini JCW WRC during the first special.
