Kenya – SS12: Rovanperä impresses, Neuville third overall
The rain came on the Rally from Kenya. On the SS12 called Elementaita (15,08 km), the drivers had to play with a track that was initially dry then completely wet over the last few kilometers. Drastic conditions which did not bother the leader of the event. Kalle Rovanperä set a huge time of 9'47″1, 11″2 better than Thierry Neuville ! With this great time, Rovanperä increased his lead over Elfyn Evans (3rd, +11″3) to almost 27 seconds in the general classification.
Behind the top 3, we find the two Frenchmen, with Sébastien Ogier (4th, +18″9) ahead of Sébastien Loeb (5e, +19″4). Takamoto Katsuta (6e, +27″1) a été mis en difficulté par les conditions piégeuses et a perdu sa troisième place au général, au profit de Thierry Neuville. Le Belge a tout donné dans cette spéciale, quitte à prendre des gros risques. À l’arrivée, le pilote Hyundai s’est arrêté pour examiner et essayer de réparer une de ses suspensions.
