Kenya – SS5: Ogier takes the scratch and the lead of the rally

Sébastien Ogier set the best time on SS5 in Kenya. Elfyn Evans suffered a puncture and fell back to 3rd place. The troubles continue for M-Sport with a mechanical problem for Adrien Fourmaux.

Kenya – SS5: Ogier takes the scratch and the lead of the rally

Double blow for Sébastien Ogier lors de l’ES5 du Safari Rally Kenya. Le Français a réalisé le meilleur chrono lors de la spéciale de Loldia en 14’05″2. Il mène un triplé Toyota avec Takamoto Katsuta deuxième (+4″3) et Kalle Rovanperä (+7″8). Le champion du monde en titre a aussi récupéré la tête du rally Kenyan since Elfyn Evans suffered a puncture to his right rear tire. In the general classification, the top 4 100% Toyota is held in around ten seconds…

Both Hyundai sont classées juste derrière, avec Thank you 4th (+9″3) and Neuville 5e (+11″1). Pour M-Sport, les problèmes ne s’arrêtent plus : c’est au tour d’Adrien fourmaux to suffer mechanical problems. The young driver from Lille had to stop in the special to examine the problem, without finding it, before restarting at slow speed. The Frenchman lost more than 4 minutes in SS5. The two other surviving Fords, those of Breen and Greensmith, are far behind, 16 seconds behind Ogier's time.
