Kenya – SS7: Rovanperä new leader, Ogier victim of a puncture

Clearly, this Kedong special is formidable. As in the morning, it was cruel for several crews. But the big winner of this stage is Ralle Rovanperä. The Finn set the best time on SS7 in Kenya and took control of the Safari Rally.

The leader of the world championship took advantage of a mishap by the current world champion. Sébastien Ogier suffered a puncture during the special and was forced to stop to replace his damaged tire. In the maneuver, the Frenchman lost more than 2 minutes (8th, +2'21″1) against Rovanperä.

Among the other victims, we can name Craig Breen, who broke his steering in the middle of the straight and was stopped in the special. Collateral victim, Katsuta was hampered by the Irishman and lost a few seconds in SS7. The Japanese lost his place as runner-up and now finds himself 4th overall, behind Evans and Thank you. Thierry Neuville climbed back to 5th place in the overall ranking despite a puncture at the end of the stage.
