La bataille continue entre les Toyota. Pour la première spéciale de la journée de samedi au Kenya (Soysambu 1, 29,32 km), c’est Elfyn Evans qui a été le plus rapide de l’ES8, avec un temps de 18’14″2. The vice-world champion regained 2nd place in the general classification, previously held by his teammate Takamoto Katsuta (7th, +18″8).
French side, Sébastien Ogier will try to re-enter the top 5 after his mishap yesterday during SS7. The Gapençais finished 4th in the special, 9″1 behind Evans, in front of the ghost of the day Sébastien Loeb. The pilot M-Sport a réalisé le 5e temps à 13″2 du meilleur chrono. Adrien fourmaux experienced yet another ordeal during this SS8, first with a puncture then a broken suspension. The Frenchman then embarrassed his teammate Craig Breen for a few minutes.
One accident to note was that of Gus Greensmith, who lost control of his Ford Puma on a bend. The car was then stuck on its side. The Briton was able to restart but with a lot of delay, but he is at the start of SS9.
