If Lionel Baud (Peugeot 307 WRC) left the victory of the last special of the first stage of the Rally Terre de Lozère to his rival Emmanuel Gascou (Peugeot 207 S2000), the leader of the event has a good lead with almost 44 seconds over his direct pursuer. Jean-Marie Cuoq (Citroën C4 WRC) climbed onto the provisional podium, but the Championship leader is now almost two minutes behind. The reigning French Rally champion nevertheless has a lead of more than half a minute over the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo IX of Jean-Marc Falco. Paul Chieusse managed to stay in the top five despite gearbox problems with his Peugeot 307 WRC.
