Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) rolled over in SS4 Rally from Mexico, the 17,23km of Ortega. The Welshman lost control of his Ford Fiesta WRC on a compression and rolled over at high speed. Despite the damage, the Englishman was able to restart to limit his delay to less than three minutes.

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) was again the fastest. The Spaniard completed the course in 9'33"2, ahead of Sébastien Loeb (Citroën), its closest rival, by almost two seconds. Ott Tänak (Toyota) followed more than three seconds ahead of Kris Meeke (Citroën) who dropped 5”6 to the leader of the event. The Northern Irishman finished ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai). Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) followed almost nine seconds from the scratch when he had to activate the “link” mode for a moment to limit the overheating of his engine. The Finn preceded Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) handicapped by their opening position. Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) still lacks pace and loses even more than 13 seconds on the lead of the race.

Dani Sordo now has more than 15 seconds ahead of Kris Meeke. Sébastien Loeb climbs onto the provisional podium three seconds behind his teammate. Ott Tänak follows in fourth place ahead of Sébastien Ogier and Andreas Mikkelsen. Thierry Neuville finds himself seventh ahead of the Finns Jari-Matti Latvala, Teemu Suninen and Esapekka Lappi who complete the top ten.
