After Sébastien Ogier during SS15, it was Kalle Rovanperä's turn to show off. The Finn took the scratch during SS16 with the best time in 10'08″9 on the climb of the Col de Turini. The reigning champion has only regained 1″5 on the leader of the Rally Monte-Carlo, qui continue de gérer son avance. Le Français a encore 17 secondes d’avance sur son coéquipier chez Toyota.

Behind, Pierre-Louis Loubet regained the use of his handbrake and was able to set the 5th time in the special, behind Katsuta and Neuville. The Belgian almost secured his 3rd place since Elfyn Evans missed a hairpin. The Welshman performed a half-spin and almost hit the wall. After reversing, the Toyota was able to restart, but the double world vice-champion lost a good handful of seconds in the process. Evans is now relegated to 30 seconds behind Neuville.

Note the return to WRC2 of Yohan Rossel over Nikolay Gryazin, who now only has a 9″7 lead over the Frenchman. Stéphane Lefebvre stopped in the middle of the special after a puncture to his front right tire.
