More than a special for Sébastien Ogier. Never satisfied, the Gapençais signed a 9th scratch since the start of the Rally Monte-Carlo and is only one stage away from a 9th success in the event alpine, an 8th in WRC. Winner of SS17 with a time of 12'17″0, the Frenchman deprived Takamoto Katsuta of a first special victory this season. Kalle Rovanperä came 3rd in the special and is now 23” behind the rally leader. The reigning world champion has let go and is now focusing on the Power Stage.

Behind, an unexpected battle will take place for 5th place. Wanting to preserve your tires too much, Ott Tänak lost a lot of time and saw Takamoto Katsuta come back to only... a tenth of the Estonian! Another fight, that for 7th place between Dani Sordo and Esapekka Lappi: the gap between the two men is 7 seconds, to the advantage of the Spaniard.

On the other hand, it is abandonment for Pierre-Louis Loubet. The Frenchman, victim of a water leak at the finish of SS16, did not join the start within the time limit and had to abandon. A decidedly cruel Monte-Carlo Rally for Corsica…
