The longest special of the Rally of Monza 2021 did not disappoint. Two passes, different surfaces and winding passages modified the general classification of the final of the WRC 2021.

First of all, Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) est parti à la faute dès les premières enfilades. Le Belge a laissé son pare-choc avant contre un rail de sécurité mais a pu repartir malgré une perte de temps évaluée à 20″. “In one of the first corners, I lost the rear. I changed the auto settings before the ES. The tires were still cold, I slipped and almost caught the car. I lost time restarting the engine. »

Dani Sordo (Hyundai) reprend ainsi le rôle du chasseur derrière les deux Toyota de Sébastien Ogier and Elfyn Evans. The latter, for his part, launched an all-out attack. Beaten because he was probably not awake enough in the previous special, the Welshman took back control of the event thanks to a scratch time. The gap has never been so big in favor of Elfyn Evans: 2″3.

The Frenchman drops back to 2nd place but even in this scenario, he would obtain his eighth world crown alongside Julien Ingrassia.
