Author of the scratch during SS5, Kalle Rovanperä is now the new leader of the Rally Portugal ahead of Dani Sordo.

Portugal – SS5: Rovanperä hits a double blow

  • A 4th leader for the Rally from Portugal: after Loubet, Thank you and Sordo, Kalle Rovanperä became the new leader of the event after setting the scratch during SS5.
  • The Finn, fastest on this 5th special, 19 kilometers long, was ahead of Thierry Neuville by 4 tenths and Dani Sordo by a second.
  • In the general classification, the reigning world champion is 8 tenths ahead of Dani Sordo. Thierry Neuville is still 3rd, 14 seconds behind the leader.
  • Fourth in the special, Pierre-Louis Loubet is also 4th overall, just 3″6 from the podium.
  • More complicated special on the other hand for Ott Tänak (+7″9), forced to be more conservative after his puncture during SS4, and for Elfyn Evans (+12″9) who has been suffering since Friday morning.
