The Citroën WRT staff are unlikely to have a good night's sleep. After Sébastien?s abandonment Loeb on mechanical problem, Sébastien Ogier confirmed at the finish of the Salm special closing the first stage that he was having problems with the engine of his Citroën DS3 WRC. The mechanics will have more work this evening to identify the problem before the start of the second day of the Rally from France-Alsace.

Sébastien Ogier still finished eight tenths ahead of Petter Solberg, who was still 1"8 behind the provisional leader, Dani Sordo being in the process of improving the time of Jari-Matti Latval (Ford).
