Japan, SS8: Rovanperä unscrews!
The second stage of Rally du Japon 2022 débute de la pire des manières pour Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota). Le Finlandais, deuxième au soir de la première étape de cette finale de la saison du WRC, conceded a whopping 2'43" in the eighth special of the event, following a puncture.
“I went a little wide in a corner and I flattened a tire as a result of this excursion”, explains the new world champion, who logically leaves Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) and Ott Tänak (Hyundai) the task of chasing his teammate Elfyn Evans (Toyota) at the head of the competition.
Kalle Rovanperä follows an identical trajectory to that of his colleague Sébastien Ogier, also suffered a puncture on Thursday evening. Both men are thrown out of the debates for the final victory.
