Rallye des Vins-Mâcon – Denis Millet wins in sadness

Barely jostled by Laurent Lecki and Nicolas Hernandez, Denis Millet (VW Polo GTI R5) flew over the rally of Wines-Mâcon. Author of a near grand slam on the specials of the first day, the driver from Besançon imposed his law on the second loop. His Polo GTI R5 finished 28 seconds ahead of the Skoda Fabia R5 of Nicolas Hernandez and almost 42 seconds over the other Polo GTI R5 of Laurent Lecki.

Denis Millet won by winning 8 out of 12 special stages.

Denis Millet achieves the grand slam by winning in the 4-wheel drive category of the Michelin Rally Tour.

The rally was marked by the death of driver François Wenger, who succumbed to a heart attack at the end of the tenth special between Bissy and Chissey-lès-Mâcon. Despite the first aid provided on site, then his transport by helicopter to Mâcon hospital, the 41-year-old pilot did not survive.

The AUTOhebdo editorial team shares the grief of his family, his friends and the ASA des Vins-Mâcon, and sends them its most sincere condolences.
