Manu Guigou (Renault Clio R3) maintains its title chances in the Rally of New Caledonia after taking second place in the Rallye du Sud by finishing first in the 2WD, 45 seconds behind the winner Alexis Barbou (Mitsubishi). The Frenchman was ahead of Championship leader Patrick Christian (Mitsubishi R4) on the podium, who only has a seven-point lead before the Poya Rally, the last event of the season held on November 16.
