Sweden, SS14: Evans makes a mistake!
Le Rally de Suède 2022 a basculé dans cette 14e spéciale, la première disputée ce dimanche 27 février. Déjà auteur d’une première incartade hors-piste samedi soir, Elfyn Evans (Toyota) a cette fois commis une faute qui le sort du match pour la victoire.
The Welshman, in pursuit behind his teammate Kalle Rovanperä, hit a wall of snow head-on at high speed. The front of his Toyota GR Yaris hybrid was damaged, the radiator was certainly damaged and the driver stopped on the side of the road a few hundred meters further on.
Although without the hybrid system in this special, Kalle Rovanperä sets a new scratch time. The Finn is now fighting against Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), lequel remonte au 2e rang mais à plus de 20 secondes. Le Belge va livrer une rude bataille avec Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) pour garder cette position, le Finlandais n’accusant que 4’’9 de retard.
Adrien fourmaux (Ford) did not start the third stage; the Frenchman still suffered the same mechanical problems which had slowed him down at the end of the second day.
