Bad news for the clan Hyundai. Leader à l’issue de la première journée du Rally from New Zealand, Ott Tänak had to give up the leadership position to Elfyn Evans. The Estonian received a 5-second penalty because the energy used during 2 “hybrid boosts” was higher than the authorized limit (241,03 kJ and 242,04 kJ while the limit is set at 240kJ) during of SS1. His teammate Thierry Neuville received the same sanction.

Thierry Neuville remains 6e 50”4 behind the Welshman.
