The reigning French Champion Julien Maurin (Ford Fiesta) went off the road on a water slide in the first special of the day at Rally du Var, last round of the 2014 French Rally Championship. As a result, Sébastien Loeb (Citroen DS3 WRC), author of a new scratch, has a more than comfortable lead two stages from the finish with 1'54″3 over the Ford Fiesta of David Salanon. Patrick Magnou (Peugeot 206 WRC) completes the leading trio more than three minutes behind. Note the roll of Pierre Ragues (Peugeot 208 T16 R5) in this SS who prefers to give up.
