Author of the first scratch in this Rally du Var 2014, last round of the French Rally Championship, Sébastien Loeb did it again in the second and last timed sector of the day. The nine-time world rally champion imposes his Citroën DS3 WRC ahead of the Citroën C4 WRC of Frédéric Comte, second at 6″8 and the reigning French Champion Julien Maurin, more than 8″ behind the leader. David Salanon (Ford Fiesta) and Patrick Magnou (Peugeot 206 WRC) completes the top 5.
In the general classification, Loeb has at the end of this shortened first day, 11″3 ahead of Frédéric Comte and more than 15″ over Julien Maurin. The Rallye du Var will resume tomorrow morning at 8:10 a.m. for the 32,6 km of the ES de Collobrières.
