Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) a remporté la première spéciale de la première étape du Rally from Germany. The five-time champion WRC completed the 19,44km of Stein und Wein in 10'50''2, one second ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai). Ott Tänak (Toyota) a suivi à moins de 2 secondes en précédant ses coéquipiers Jari-Matti Latvala et Esapekka Lappi. Dani Sordo (Hyundai) pointe à plus de 7 secondes devant Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) et les Citroën de Craig Breen and Mads Ostberg. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) were the slowest.

Sébastien Ogier takes the lead of the Rally Germany by 8 tenths ahead of Ott Tänak. Thierry Neuville climbs to 3rd place ahead of Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala. Dani Sordo slips to 6th position ahead of Craig Breen and Andreas Mikkelsen. Elfyn Evans and Mads Ostberg complete the Top 10 ahead of Teemu Suninen.
