Australia – SS12: Paddon takes over Ogier

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) a réalisé le scratch dans les 50,8km de Nambucca, 12e spéciale du Rally from Australia which launches the second stage. By completing the course in 28'38''6, the New Zealander was ten seconds ahead of leader Andreas Mikkelsen (Volkswagen) even though he was disturbed by dust entering the passenger compartment. Jari-Matti Latvala (Volkswagen) was the closest, 2”5 behind.

Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) lost 2”4 to his Norwegian teammate after being the only one to opt for soft tires. Mads Ostberg (Ford) follows the Frenchman by more than six seconds just ahead of Dani Sordo (Hyundai) who missed a turn. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) lost a lot of time in the special since he was more than 22 seconds behind the scratch. Éric Camilli (Ford) follows him less than six seconds behind.

Andreas Mikkelsen retains the lead in Rally Australia, but it is now Hayden Paddon who occupies second place, ahead of Sébastien Ogier by 4 seconds and 3 seconds behind the leader. Thierry Neuville also lost a position, finding himself almost 13 seconds off the provisional podium. Mads Ostberg still completes the top five while Dani Sordo took sixth place with less than five seconds ahead of Éric Camilli.
