Ott Tänak (Toyota) s’est offert un nouveau scratch en bouclant les 28,83km de Welshs Creek Reverse en 15’01’’4. L’Estonien a devancé son coéquipier Jari-Matti Latvala de 4 secondes. Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) a suivi à près de 9 secondes en reprenant 3 dixièmes à Mads Ostberg (Citroën).
Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) a échoué à 13 seconde mais a encore devancé de 5 secondes Thierry Neuville (Hyundai).
Ott Tänak didn't even need instructions to take the lead Rally of Australia since he is now ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala by 8 tenths. Mads Ostberg remains 3rd, 2”7 ahead of Hayden Paddon. Sébastien Ogier remains 6th behind Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) ahead of Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) gained a place and found himself 8th ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) for a lead of 3 tenths.
