On the first pass in the Destination NSW super-special, Sébastien Ogier (Volkswagen) a réalisé le meilleur temps en 1’01″7 et devance Dani Sordo (Hyundai) de six dixièmes et son équipier Andreas Mikkelsen de 1″ pleine.
In the general classification, the Frenchman is 1″8 behind Mikkelsen, who retains control of the Rally of Australia before the second passage which will put an end to the second stage of the final of WRC 2016. With his second time, Sordo regains some space against Mads Ostberg (Ford) in the fight for 5th place, with a second difference between the two drivers.
