Troisième spéciale, et troisième scratch pour Andreas Mikkelsen en Australie. Le pilote Hyundai a distancé une nouvelle fois ses rivaux sur les 26,68 km de l’ES de Sherwood avec un meilleur temps établi en 12’51″1, 6″3 devant Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën), 6″8 devant Craig Breen (Citroën) and 7″3 in front Ott Tänak (Ford).
In the general classification, Mikkelsen has a 16″6 margin over Kris Meeke (Citroën), victim of a scare with an off-road passage fortunately without any unfortunate consequences. Craig Breen took advantage of his excellent time in this SS3 to move up to third position at 17″7.
Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) est provisoirement éjecté du podium et pointe en quatrième position à 20″7 et précède de deux dixièmes Ott Tänak (Ford) et de quatre dixièmes Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota). Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) est 7e devant Sébastien Ogier (Ford), eighth, 28″8 behind the leader. The Frenchman, however, seems to have resolved his gear selection concerns.
Stéphane Lefebvre and Elfyn Evans (Ford) remain in the top 10. Esapekka Lappi (Toyota), still plagued by power steering problems, loses more than 2′ in this special and is more than 3’15” behind overall.
Kalle Rovenpera (Ford Fiesta R5) took the opportunity to overtake Lappi in the general standings and move up to 11th position.
