SS12: Petter Solberg retires

While Petter Solberg (Citroën) was fighting for 3rd place with Mads Ostberg (Ford), the two Norwegians being separated by less than 8 seconds, the private driver of the DS3 WRC abandoned on the link route leading to SS12 (Hafren) following fuel supply problems. Kimi Räikkönen (Citroën) stopped in the special. Iceman was in 7th place in the rankings. The Finn seems to have left after being stuck in a ditch for almost 20 minutes.

Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) completed the 32,1km course in 18?39??1, ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Ford) by 5??8. The Flying Finn was however faster in the first 5 intermediates but missed a turn. “It was a very muddy area and I went straight, the engine stalled and I had to reverse”, explains the Ford driver.

Mads Ostberg (Ford) finished almost 19 seconds behind the eight-time world champion. Ott Tanak stands out in his Fiesta RS WRC by finishing 6”2 behind the Citroën driver. Kris Meeke fell 42s behind after indicating that his Mini JCW WRC was suffering from mechanical problems.

The leader of Wales Rally GB now leads his Finnish rival by 6??9. Henning Solberg (Ford) takes 4th place following the withdrawal of his brother but is almost 2 minutes behind Mads Ostberg. Despite his worries, Kris Meeke climbed to 6th place after the retirements of the Citroën private drivers. but the Briton only has 4 seconds ahead of Matthew Wilson (Ford).
