Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) signed a new scratch on the Santa Marina course by completing the 26,51km in 15:55??3. The Alsatian narrowly beats his teammate Sébastien Ogier, which fails by a tenth. Mikko Hirvonen (Ford) fails at 2??6 ahead of his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala (+ 3??6). Dani Sordo (Mini) can only note the better pace of the Fords, falling 2??4 behind Jari-Matti Latvala.
Sébastien Loeb is 31 seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala. Mikko Hirvonen protects himself from a possible return from Dani Sordo by pushing him back to 40 seconds.
