Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) a frappé un grand coup dans le premier passage de Likenas, l’ES16 du Rally from Sweden. The Finn completed the 21,19km in 11'06''9 and beat his direct rival Ott Tänak de plus de 7s. Dani Sordo (Hyundai) a été le plus proche des leaders de l’épreuve en devançant son coéquipier Hayden Paddon. Kris Meeke (Citroën) a suivi à 11s en devançant son coéquipier Craig Breen.
Sébastien Ogier (Ford) lost his chances of regular victory by spinning in the first corner and lost almost half a minute. The Frenchman ranked ahead of his compatriot Stéphane Lefebvre (DS 3). Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) finished more than a minute behind in order to preserve its tires as much as possible.
Elfyn Evans (Ford) also finished over a minute behind due to mechanical problems. The Welshman could have lost a cylinder, his Fiesta WRC making an unusual noise.
Jari-Matti Latvala dispose désormais de 11s d’avance sur Ott Tänak à deux spéciales de l’arrivée. Sébastien Ogier se retrouve à 43s de la tête de la course en précédant toujours Dani Sordo, Craig Breen et Elfyn Evans. Le pilote M-Sport pourrait être repris par Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) revenu à 21s. Stéphane Lefebvre reste 8e.
