The pilot Hyundai Dani Sordo a réalisé le meilleur temps de l’ES2 du Rally from Monza, in 9'54"5, or 4"6 seconds better than Esapekka Lappi (Ford). French Sébastien Ogier for his part finished fourth at 10”8 seconds.
Sordo takes control of the rally by 4 seconds over Lappi and 6 over Ogier.
The big loser of this special was Thierry Neuville, who slipped and ended up in the barbed wire. Stuck, the Belgian took a long time to get going again and was 30 seconds behind after SS2.
