Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) takes the scratch in the Clarence special by completing the 4,58km in 2?22??8 just ahead of his teammate Sébastien Ogier (+ 0??1). Petter Solberg (Citroën) is six tenths behind while the Ford drivers, Mikko Hirvonen and Jari-Matti Latvala, set the same time just one second behind the seven-time world champion's reference time.
Henning Solberg (Ford) rolled over in the special while in 12th position. The Norwegian was able to put his car back on its wheels and leave. The windshield of his Fiesta RS WRC is broken but the damage appears to be minimal. The crew is unhurt.
