Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) a de nouveau signé le scratch dans les 26,7km de Viana do Castelo bouclés en 15’35’’6 avec plus de 4s d’avance sur son coéquipier Dani Sordo. Kris Meeke (Citroën) a suivi à 5s en reprenant 7 dixièmes à Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) et un dixième à Ott Tänak (Ford). Elfyn Evans (Ford) and Craig Breen (Citroën) finished 6s from the scratch ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), Sébastien Ogier (Ford) and the Toyotas of Juho Hänninen and Esapekka Lappi. Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) set the 12th fastest time.
Mads Ostberg (Ford) lost more than 3 minutes due to a puncture while in 9th place.
Kris Meeke took the lead Rally from Portugal with 2 tenths ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala. Ott Tänak follows just over a second behind with a few tenths ahead of Craig Breen. Hayden Paddon took 5th place with more than 4 seconds ahead of Sébastien Ogier. Dani Sordo took the advantage over his teammate Thierry Neuville by only 2 tenths from 6th place. Elfyn Evans was the first beneficiary of Mads Ostberg's puncture. Esapekka Lappi joins the top ten a few seconds ahead of his teammate and compatriot Juho Hänninen.
