Spain – SS16: Loeb drives home the point

Sébastien Loeb (Citroën) signs a second consecutive scratch at the Rally from Spain taking advantage of its hard tires. The nine-time champion WRC completed the first passage of Santa Marina which will serve as the Power Stage, achieving a time of 8'08''9 at the end of the 14,5km. Ott Tänak (Toyota) a été le plus proche avec 2’’7 de retard. Les Hyundai de Thierry Neuville and Dani Sordo followed the Estonian's Yaris WRC. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) lost 4”5 to the new leader of the event but regained 3 seconds from Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport).

 

 

Sébastien Loeb now has a 7''1 lead over Jari-Matti Latvala before the second pass of the day's two specials. Sébastien Ogier remains 3rd, now 3''7 behind the Finn. The reigning WRC champion sees Thierry Neuville come back to less than 4 seconds. Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) lost two places and found himself 6th, 7 tenths behind Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Ott Tänak took 7th position against his teammate Esapekka Lappi. Craig Breen (Citroën) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) still complete the Top 10 ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport).

Kalle Rovanperä (Skoda) retains the lead in WRC 2 but the Finn sees Jan Kopecky (Skoda) come back to less than 14 seconds. Petter Solberg (Volkswagen) remains on the provisional podium in the category.
