This week, the caravan of WRC is in Australia, for the penultimate gravel round of the season. But this year, the course was not traced in the same place as in the past. All the crews will therefore discover completely new special stages, making the notes taken during reconnaissance more crucial than ever, as Finnish Jari-Matti Latvala explains.
“We are going to a new place, which means that the preparation will be somewhat different, explains the driver of the official Ford Fiesta RS WRC wearing the number 3. HASAfter the reconnaissance, we will take a close look at our videos of the specials. When I have ridden stages several times, the roads are anchored in my memory, and I therefore do not have much to learn from watching the video. But when it comes to new routes, watching the videos is always beneficial. This helps us understand the characteristics of the specials. »
