The organizers of Rally of Sweden unveiled on Monday the route for the 69th edition, which will take place from February 11 to 14, 2021. In order to guarantee snow-covered roads that have made the rally famous for 70 years, the route is moving north compared to 2020 , more precisely in Värmland. “The new stages present good snow conditions even with an extreme climate” specify the organizers. 92% of the route will consist of partly or completely new tracks.

The opening ceremony will be held as always at the Karlstad Arena with fireworks. The Torsby Sprint will be used on Friday and Saturday with the famous SWECon Rock. The Colins Crest Arena will also be there.

“It’s always a pleasure to present completely new specials. It's always difficult to find alternatives that meet the demands,” commented Johan Magnusson, the master of the rally route. “92% is a really good ratio and it will bring new challenges for the teams. It was also important to maintain the specificity of staging a rally in both Sweden and Norway. »

Rally director Glenn Olsson hopes to have better luck this year. “We want to be able to experience a major winter rally again after the nightmares of recent years. Our changes seem safer and we hope that the health situation will improve in the coming months. »

Rally Sweden will be the second of 12 rounds WRC planned for 2021 calendar.

The route and timetables.
