Counting for the Italian Rally Championship, and former center of the WRC, Rally SanRemo 2020 was canceled yesterday by the organizers due to the violent weather which hit the Riviera region, following the tragic events in the South-East of France.
“The teams and resources used had been working for more than twelve hours to restore the roads, specified race director Simone Bettati. We hoped to be able to race until the last minute, but as the work progressed the situation got worse, with more fallen trees and more landslides on the roads.
We worked intensely, but ultimately received refusal from the authorities. We also stopped out of respect for the populations of the territory so hard hit by this wave of bad weather. »
