Slightly behind Ott Tänak (Hyundai) and Sébastien Ogier (Toyota) lors de la première épreuve spéciale de l’année, Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul (Hyundai) turned things around in a very good way. The Belgians, motivated by a partially icy road, distanced the two world champion crews by almost 30″!

They logically take the lead in the general classification after these two night specials. Behind, a trio composed of Ogier, Tänak and Evans (Toyota) stands half a minute behind. The titled nonuples Sébastien Loeb and Daniel Elena are even further away, at 51″! After a thunderous start, Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) preferred to play the cautious card (+1'15").

Hopes of a good result have already vanished for Teemu Suninen (Ford). The Finn suffered a transmission problem on his Ford Fiesta and parked on the side of the road while Gus Greensmith briefly parked.
