Craig Breen (Citroën) lost more than two minutes in the Vaumeilh-Claret special (15,18km), the SS5 of Rally Monte-Carlo. L’Irlandais a été en grande difficulté suite à la casse d’un frein dans le premier passage et a même dû s’arrêter pour laisser passer Esapekka Lappi (Toyota).
Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) s’est illustré en signant le scratch avec un chrono de 8’42’’6. Ott Tänak (Toyota) was the closest with three tenths behind, followed by Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) à sept dixièmes. Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) remained on a good pace, finishing 2''4 with a second ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) who preceded his teammate Esapekka Lappi by seven tenths. Kris Meeke (Citroën) finished 7”4 back, 2”4 ahead of Bryan Bouffier (M-Sport). Dani Sordo (Hyundai), however, lost pace as he finished more than 11 seconds behind the scratch.
Sébastien Ogier returns to mid-stage service with a lead of 40”4 over Ott Tänak who takes second place from Dani Sordo by seven seconds. Esapekka Lappi remains fourth ahead of his teammate Jari-Matti Latvala. Kris Meeke maintains his sixth position, now ahead of Bryan Bouffier, Elfyn Evans and Craig Breen who loses three places in this special.
