Ott Tänak (Toyota) a encore repris du temps à Sébastien Ogier in the eighth special of Rally Monte Carlo. The Estonian set the third time, eight seconds behind the scratch. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) qui a bouclé les 15,18km en 8’36’’2 avec 7’’4 d’avance sur Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota). Le Finlandais a devancé son coéquipier et compatriote Esapekka Lappi de cinq secondes.
Kris Meeke (Citroën) a suivi à une dizaine de secondes en précédant d’une demi-seconde Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) et Dani Sordo (Hyundai). Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) a été plus en retrait sur ce parcours et a cédé 4’’4 à Ott Tänak. Seuls Craig Breen (Citroën) and Bryan Bouffier (M-Sport) were slower.
Sébastien Ogier only has a 14”9 lead over Ott Tänak on the evening of the second stage. Dani Sordo is still on the provisional podium with around ten seconds ahead of the Yaris WRC of Esapekka Lappi and Jari-Matti Latvala separated in two tenths. Kris Meeke is still in sixth position ahead of Bryan Bouffier, Elfyn Evans, Thierry Neuville and Craig Breen.
