They had done the hardest part by achieving two remarkable climbs of the Turini. Thierry Neuville and Nicolas Gilsoul (Hyundai) ont assuré une première victoire au redoutable Rally Monte-Carlo, this Sunday January 26.

The Belgian pair, world vice-champions in 2019, leads the championship after this opening round. The wearers of No. 11 also won the Power Stage, tied with Sébastien Ogier and Julien Ingrassia (Toyota).

The joint record holders for victories at Monte-Carlo overtook their teammates Elfyn Evans and Scott Martin (Toyota) at the last minute. Leaders throughout the day on Saturday, the Welshman slowed down during money time.

The disappointment of this morning is Sébastien's descent Loeb and Daniel Elena (Hyundai). Equipped with worn tires, the nine-time world champion crew had to settle for sixth position, behind beginner Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota).

As for the additional categories, Mads Ostberg (Citroën) won the WRC 2 but the first competitor with an R5 is the Frenchman Éric Camilli (Citroën). He is ahead of his compatriot Nicolas Ciamin (Citroën).
