After his package in Sardinia this weekend, Hyundai offers a new chance to its young pilot. Peter Solberg tested positive for Covid-19 and prevented his son from participating in the 5th round of the WRC.
The 19-year-old driver has received a new opportunity in the i20 Cup WRC. His fine 7th place at the Arctic Rally Finland reassured the team leaders to give the Swede a drive again. Oliver Solberg will discover driving on asphalt after having evolved on the ice and snow of Finland. “It’s a good opportunity for me to gain experience on asphalt. […] I looked at dash cams from previous years and the roads look great.” The Hyundai team has won the last two editions of this rally, with Sébastien Loeb et Thierry Neuville.
The 2021 edition will begin on June 12.
