Dani Sordo and his teammate Sébastien Loeb (Hyundai) ont rencontré de sérieux soucis mécaniques dans l’ES3 du Rally from Portugal, the 14,44km of Arganil. Both the Spaniard and the Alsatian reportedly encountered fuel pressure problems. The nine-time champion WRC finished a quarter of an hour late while the former leader of the event is still on the course. Crews will not have assistance to repair their cars at the break.

Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) also suffered when he suffered a front-left puncture which caused him to lose a minute while in 6th place.

Ott Tänak (Toyota) a encore signé le scratch avec un chrono de 9’00’’0 en devançant Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) by almost 2 seconds, the surviving Belgian having conversely regained performance. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) followed just over 5 seconds ahead of teammate Kris Meeke. Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) a suivi à plus de 6 secondes juste devant Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) a échoué à 8 secondes de la référence devant son coéquipier Gus Greensmith.

Toyotas are now at the forefront of the Rally Portugal. Ott Tänak is the new leader with almost 7 seconds ahead of Jari-Matti Latvala, with Kris Meeke following the Finn with a similar gap. Teemu Suninen finds himself at the foot of the provisional podium in front of his teammate Elfyn Evans. Sébastien Ogier is now in 6th place, half a second ahead of Thierry Neuville. Gus Greensmith finished the first pass of the day in 8th place with more than half a minute ahead of Esapekka Lappi.
