Andreas Mikkelsen dismounted on SS7 Rally of Sardinia even if Team Principal Michel Nandan had indicated at the end of the previous special that the i20 WRC Didn't seem to have any mechanical issues. The Scandinavian occupied second place in the ranking.

Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) a signé son premier scratch sur cette épreuve en bouclant les 14,37km de Castelsardo en 10’34’’8 avec 1’’9 d’avance sur son coéquipier. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) a suivi à un peu plus de quatre secondes. Les pilotes Toyota Jari-Matti Latvala et Esapekka Lappi ont fini à plus de huit secondes en précédant Mads Ostberg (Citroën) et Elfyn Evans (M-Sport). Craig Breen (Citroën) failed by almost 15 seconds by missing a turn. Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) finished more than 15 seconds behind.

Sébastien Ogier now has almost 11 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville. The Belgian is followed four seconds behind by Ott Tänak. Teemu Suninen gained three places and found himself fourth ahead of his compatriots Jari-Matti Latvala and Esapekka Lappi. Mads Ostberg climbs to seventh place ahead of Hayden Paddon and Craig Breen.
