The first day of rally of Sweden was marked by a domination of the Ford drivers. The astonishing Mads Otsberg is ahead of the official Ford Fiesta of Mikko Hirvonen (+14 »8). The podium is completed by Petter Solberg (Citroën DS3 WRC), already relegated to almost 53 seconds.
Jari Matti Latvala (Ford Fiesta), Henning Solberg (Ford Fiesta) and Sébastien Ogier (Citroën DS3) are held in a pocket handkerchief. Handicapped by his position as opener, Sébastien Loeb lost a lot of time at the end of the first day. The seven-time world champion occupies 9th place in the general classification, 2'48"4 behind the leader.
Ostberg is the first to set off in the 15 kilometers of Lesjofors 1 (SS8), then the 14,23 kilometers of Sagen 1 (SS9). The second day should see the factory drivers set scratch times, like Sébastien Loeb, freed from his delicate position as opener.
