Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) a signé le scratch dans les 11,65km d’Elsi, première ES du jour au Wales Rally GB disputée sous la pluie. Le Gallois a devancé d’une demi-seconde Kris Meeke (Toyota), Ott Tänak (Toyota) finishing almost 3 seconds ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) and Craig Breen (Hyundai). Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) ranked almost 5 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) by 4 tenths.
Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) failed by almost 8 seconds after losing the rear of his Yaris WRC.
Kris Meeke maintains the lead of Wales Rally GB almost 7 seconds ahead of Thierry Neuville, followed by just over a second by Sébastien Ogier. Ott Tänak follows the Frenchman 3 tenths ahead of Elfyn Evans. Jari-Matti Latvala is 7th ahead of Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai).
