The Strasbourg administrative court this morning annulled the prefectural decree which authorized a stage of the Rally of France at the Grand Ballon. This is a decree dated September 17, 2010 providing a temporary exemption for the conservation of the biotopes of the summit part of the Grand Ballon where rare species survive in a fragile environment. The appeal was brought by the environmental association Alsace Nature.
This decision should only affect the movement of spectators in the Grand Ballon. THE WRC will, however, be able to compete in the special, as in 2010. The 2011 Rallye de France will take place from September 30 to October 2.
