Kris Nissen said he hoped to announce the first official driver selected for the 2013 season in the coming weeks. When Petter Solberg was mentioned, the VW Motorsport director remained vague on the prospects for a future with the 2003 world champion. “He is not too old to have a good development season and another year of competition but he would still be too old if we wanted to win the Championship in 2018.”
