Ypres, SS1: Rovanperä from the start!
Sur des rallyes asphalte, ouvrir la route constitue un avantage car le tarmac est exempt de graviers. C’est ce dont a profité Kalle Rovanperä (Toyota) pour prendre avec aisance la tête du Rally of Ypres from the first special on Friday.
The Finn beat his Toyota Gazoo Racing teammate Elfyn Evans by 2”5 and Ott Tänak (Hyundai) de 3’’0. Parmi en dernière place des Rally1 hybrides, le Tricolore Adrien fourmaux (M-Sport Ford) se hisse au cinquième rang et devance le favori du public, le Belge Thierry Neuville (Hyundai), which missed a turn and lost around ten seconds in the process. Takamoto Katsuta (Toyota) and Craig Breen (M-Sport Ford) have experienced similar events.
In WRC2, Frenchman Yohan Rossel (Citroën) started the event ideally by gaining a 6″ margin over his rival for the title, Norwegian Andreas Mikkelsen (Skoda).
