Ott Tänak (Toyota) protected his lead at Wales Rally GB by coming closest to Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) in Myherin, the 12th stage of the event. The Estonian finished almost 4 seconds behind the Welshman, ahead of Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) by a tenth. Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) followed more than 6 seconds behind by gaining 8 tenths from Kris Meeke (Toyota). Teemu Suninen (M-Sport) failed a dozen seconds behind his teammate, finishing behind Esapekka Lappi (Citroën) and Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai).
Craig Breen (Hyundai) was in 6th place before rolling over in the special. The Irishman started again but lost more than 5 minutes. It is not safe to continue, as the stage does not include assistance.
Ott Tänak now has a 5”9 lead over Sébastien Ogier. Thierry Neuville took 3rd place, 8 tenths ahead of Kris Meeke. Andreas Mikkelsen remains 5th while Elfyn Evans gains two places after taking over Teemu Suninen. Pontus Tidemand climbs to 9th position.
Jan Kopecky (Skoda) lost 2 minutes after stopping. His teammate Kalle Rovanperä is alone at the head of WRC 2 Pro.
