Sébastien Ogier (Citroën) took the scratch on the second pass of Guanajuatito, SS13 of the Rally of Mexico. With a time of 17'33''6 to complete the 25,9km, the six-time WRC champion gained 3''7 from Elfyn Evans (M-Sport) who pushed back Ott Tänak (Toyota) by 6 tenths. Kris Meeke (Toyota) followed at 7 seconds and Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) at around ten seconds.
Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) lost a minute when he found himself in front of a closed gate in the special. The Norwegian should recover the lost time.
Sébastien Ogier now has a lead of almost 23 seconds over Elfyn Evans. The Welshman enjoys a similar lead over Ott Tänak who completes the provisional podium ahead of Thierry Neuville and Kris Meeke. Jari-Matti Latvala (Toyota) should soon take 9th position.
Latvala sets the 4th time, 5″5 behind Ogier. The Finn is ranked 10th and should soon take over the Skoda from local Trivino.
Ogier takes the provisional scratch with a 3″7 lead over Evans. His lead extends to 22″9 overall over the Welshman.
Ogier is getting everyone to agree with nearly 4 seconds ahead of his pursuers in the special.
Evans improves the provisional scratch with 6 tenths ahead of Tänak. The M-Sport driver pushes the Estonian back more than 22s. The Welshman sends a strong signal to his direct opponent.
