Thierry Neuville (Hyundai) was the most energetic for the first special on Friday at Rally Poland. Over the 6,52 km on a wet track, the Belgian set the best performance in 3'22″9 and beat the Toyota Yaris of Jari-Matti Latvala by two tenths. Sébastien Ogier (Ford) completes the top 3, 1″4 behind Neuville.

Ott Tänak (Ford), despite a somewhat missed intersection, set the fourth time at 1″6, while the gaps were a little greater behind. The drivers who started further down the running order suffered a little more, and Esapekka Lappi moved his Toyota Yaris into fifth position, 4″8 ahead of his teammate Juho Hänninen.

Hayden Paddon (Hyundai) and Stéphane Lefebvre (Citroën) achieved the same time in 3'31″2 and finished 7th and 8th ahead of Andreas Mikkelsen (Citroën) and Teemu Suninen (Ford).
