Dani Sordo concluded the last special of the morning of the first stage of the Rally of Portugal by signing the scratch with a time of 19'15''5 in the 27,54km Ponte de Lima. Andreas Mikkelsen (Hyundai) was closest to the Spaniard, three tenths behind. Sébastien Ogier (M-Sport) followed less than two seconds ahead of the Hyundais of Thierry Neuville and Hayden Paddon. Kris Meeke (Citroën) finished more than eight seconds behind the benchmark, ahead of his teammate Craig Breen. Esapekka Lappi (Toyota) failed by more than a dozen seconds ahead of Ekfyn Evans (M-Sport), Mads Ostberg (Citroën) and Teemu Suninen (M-Sport).

 

 

Dani Sordo finds himself in the lead with 4”6 ahead of Kris Meeke. Hayden Paddon completes the provisional podium ahead of Sébastien Ogier and Thierry Neuville. Andreas Mikkelsen made the best comeback, gaining four places against Craig Breen, Elfyn Evans, Teemu Suninen and Mads Ostberg. Esapekka Lappi remains at the gates of the Top 10.

Tänak has just confirmed that he will not restart in Rally 2 because the engine is destroyed.

Suninen finished with the worst time, being more than 17 seconds behind Sordo's scratch. The M-Sport driver slips to 9th place.
